I just got done with my first EVP volleyball doubles tournament of the year. Was out on beautiful North Avenue beach in Chicago from 8:20 am through 2:00 pm, under cloudless 80 degree conditions. We ended up going 2-3 in our pool, and not advancing to the single-elimination brackets, but we had a blast, and played well overall. Needless to say, I'm pretty exhausted, but given the choice, I would do this for a living in a heartbeat! Next tournament: July 8th.

Why don't you do this for a living? Sounds like a great idea -- at least for the next 3 years or so.
Hi Don,
There's one very good reason why I don't do this for a living, as much as I might like to: I'm not good enough. :) I do think I'd have a chance to make it at the professional level if I devoted myself entirely to training and practice. But honestly, the reason I don't is the same as why I did not devote myself to baseball—my best sport—during and after college: I'd have to give up too much else in life that I love. For example, I already train 4 days per week for physical conditioning and play in 2 volleyball leagues, on top of the tournaments. To go pro, I'd need to add 3 more days of volleyball training and another hour each day for physical conditioning. If you figure out a way to increase a day's length to 28 hours, please let me know!! :)
